ABOUT NAVIGATE ARTS
Navigate Arts was established the beautiful Old Tanja Church, studios and surrounds in mid- 2019 as a new creative hub for artists, run by artists. We are committed to the creation of immersive, intimate live performance, visual arts, multi-media and music events that celebrate this unique place and its peoples.
Artistic Director, Louise Morris and Technical Manager, Matthew Scott offer professional expertise in theatre direction, design and production, acting and performance education, site-specific performance, public art , gallery and visual art installations, interactive and participatory arts as well as community arts practice and events.
Having grown up in the ACT, Louise spent most of her childhood exploring the hidden wonders of the Mimosa Rocks National Park, and the land and waters of Yuin Country has held a place deep her heart for her entire life. It is here, she believes, that her fascination for performance and installation works made in communion with land, peoples and place was born. In 2018, Matthew and Louise found themselves at a crossroads- to continue their careers in academia and arts production in Melbourne or to take a leap into the unknown and establish their own independent arts business with four generations living together and caring for one another in this beautiful environment.
Despite the temporary closure of the venue due to the Summer bushfires and Covid-19- to return to this enchanting place to create, experiment and collaborate- and to open the doors of this unique church as a place that nurtures and gathers peoples and artists together has been a wonderful journey so far…and we have only just begun!
